Industrial Resilience in Focus: CPIP at the NCE47

CPIP-2026-ECOP-01

Industries are operating in a landscape shaped by constant movement—shifts in markets, changes in workforce arrangements, faster adoption of new technologies, and continuing economic uncertainty. These were the realities that framed the 47th National Conference of Employers (NCE47), organized by the Employers Confederation of the Philippines last May 20, 2026 at the Fiesta Pavilion of The Manila Hotel, under the theme: “Towards a Dynamic, Resilient, and Sustainable Future Amidst a Crisis.”  Representing Calamba Premiere International Park (CPIP) at the conference were President Carlos Po, Admin Head Michaela Nucup, Admin Officer Cindy Maluya, Civil Engineer Crizza Maderazo, Senior Accounting Head Janine Malabanan, Accounting Officer I Laurence Tamondong, General Accounting Staff Irla Suarez, Environmental Relations Department Head Krister Po, Pollution Control Officer Marella Yncierto, Electrical Engineer Harvey Micosa, and Marketing Assistant Bryan Plaza. Joining the delegation were representatives from several locator partners within the park: Air Liquide Pipeline Utility Services: Wen-Chih Liu Ambient Quality Resource Inc.: Jose lito De Guzman, Bessie De Guzman, James Kedrick De Guzman, Mark Noel De Guzman, Nikki De Guzman, Ramiro Osorio Jr., Christian Oliver, Jun Abarcar, Rolan Agustin, and Donni Morales Coherent Laser Enterprise Philippines Inc.: Cesar Baracinas, Mary Amabelle Batiao, and Jaminica Blanca Varex Imaging Philippines Inc.: Debbie Ocampo, Randy Tabio, Wilfredo Torreverde, Armando Carrera Jr., and Marivic Coligado Conversations on where industries are headed The program opened with remarks from NCE47 Organizing Committee Chair Enunina Mangio and ECOP President Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr., who set the tone for discussions on workforce changes, economic pressures, sustainability efforts, and the expanding role of technology in day-to-day operations. Philippine Stock Exchange Chairman Jose Pardo underscored the weight of employer decisions in shaping national direction, noting that “the future of this country is shaped by decisions we make as employers.” Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Christina Roque discussed the agency’s commitment to supporting local enterprises, while SOCIEUX+ Team Leader Dijana Mirvic shared perspectives on labor systems, workforce development, and social protection across different contexts. Reflections from the Panel Discussions Across the sessions, recurring themes began to surface—technology adoption, workforce shifts, and operational pressures were being discussed from different angles, but often pointing to the same reality on the ground: industries are adjusting in parallel, not in isolation. The demonstration of robotic movement during the AI session served as a reference point, but what carried more weight was how quickly the discussion shifted toward real application. For CPIP, this reflected an environment where technology adoption is no longer distant or optional, but already influencing how industries operate on the ground. Taken together, the panel discussions reinforced what CPIP continues to observe across its locators: change is happening at multiple levels at the same time, and the more immediate focus is on how organizations are aligning their operations within that reality. Real Connections for a Stronger Industrial Community The conference extended outside the sessions in the hall. With various industries present in one venue and multiple booths active throughout the day, CPIP moved between formal discussions and more direct exchanges with business leaders and partners across sectors. These conversations often offered as much practical insight as the presentations on stage, delivered in a more immediate setting. What stood out was the value of these interactions in grounding broader discussions in day-to-day realities. While conditions continue to shift across industries, the steady exchange of perspectives within the community helps keep responses aligned and practical. Through these engagements, CPIP and its partners continue to strengthen coordination and maintain clearer lines of communication amid ongoing operational demands.

Ciudad Health Hub: Quality Healthcare for the People of CPIP and Local Communities

IMG_1381

Within and around Calamba Premiere International Park (CPIP), daily life moves between two closely connected communities. Inside the park, employees keep production lines and operations running. Just outside its gates, families across Barangay Batino and nearby areas support the same local ecosystem. Access to reliable healthcare is important to both. For many years, routine medical visits often meant traveling across Calamba City, turning a simple consultation or diagnostic test into hours away from work or home. Today, Ciudad Health Hub, located just a short walk from the CPIP Admin Compound, offers a more practical option. By bringing essential medical services closer to the park and surrounding neighborhoods, the clinic makes healthcare easier to access for employees, residents, and families alike.   Optimized Care: A Comprehensive Medical Suite  Inaugurated on March 11, 2024, by a collective of multi-specialty board-certified physicians, Ciudad Health Hub was strategically established to serve growing industrial and residential communities in and around Batino. The Hub delivers a fully integrated diagnostic experience, allowing patients to complete various requirements under one roof: Advanced Imaging: High-resolution digital X-ray and ultrasound services for accurate and timely diagnostics.  Laboratory Services: Comprehensive laboratory testing, including pathology services, drug screening, and ECG.  Specialist Expertise: On-site consultations in Internal Medicine, OB-Gynecology, and Pediatrics available from Monday to Saturday.  Proactive Health: Vaccination programs and routine health screenings designed to support long-term wellness. With these services consolidated in one facility, routine medical visits can be completed more efficiently and with less disruption to daily schedules.    Institutional Value for CPIP Locators For companies operating within CPIP, having a reliable healthcare provider nearby can offer a clear operational advantage. Ciudad Health Hub provides services that can support HR and Operations teams in managing workforce health requirements more efficiently. Through potential partnerships with the clinic, CPIP locators may streamline several key processes, including: Accelerated Onboarding: Pre-Employment Medical Examinations (PEME) that help shorten hiring timelines and support faster deployment of new employees.  Regulatory Compliance: Annual Physical Examinations (APE) and other industry-required health clearances that assist companies in maintaining workplace health standards.  HMO Integrated Care: Coordination with various health card providers to make consultations and diagnostics more accessible for employees.  Workplace Wellness Initiatives: Corporate health programs and medical drives that help organizations promote a healthier and more resilient workforce.   Deeply Rooted in Batino: A Neighborhood Healthcare Anchor While the clinic supports the industrial workforce, it also serves residents of Barangay Batino and nearby communities with accessible, day-to-day medical care. Its services for the community include: Pediatric Care & Immunization: Routine consultations and vaccination services for children, helping families manage healthcare needs close to home. Maternal and Women’s Health Services: OB-Gynecology consultations and prenatal ultrasound monitoring for expectant mothers and women’s health concerns. Chronic Disease Management: Ongoing care and monitoring for conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, supported by regular consultations and diagnostics. Basic Diagnostics and Preventive Care: Accessible laboratory and screening services that support early detection and timely medical attention.   Plan Your Visit Ciudad Health Hub is located at Ground Floor, Expressive Gallery Building, Madison South, Brgy. Batino, Calamba, Philippines, 4027   Clinic Hours: Monday to Saturday 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM   For both individuals and organizations, healthcare is easier to manage when it is nearby and accessible. From routine check-ups to workplace requirements, services are available within reach of daily schedules. When care is close at hand, it becomes easier to stay consistent with it—making timely consultations, follow-throughs, and preventive visits part of a normal routine rather than a disruption.

A New Chapter of Scale: Coherent LEPI Inaugurates Third Building at CPIP

IMG_9777

On 16 April 2026, Coherent Laser Enterprise Philippines Inc. marked another step in its continued expansion with the inauguration of its third building at Calamba Premiere International Park, strengthening its operational presence within the industrial estate.   The program opened with introductory remarks from Coherent LEPI Site Manufacturing Director Cesar Baracinas, who set the tone by grounding the day in the company’s long-term direction and operational vision. He spoke of plans that move beyond intent, shaped instead as work already in motion, gradually unfolding through execution on the ground.   This was followed by the ribbon cutting ceremony, led by Mr. Baracinas together with Coherent DILAS Managing Director Marcus Klein, PEZA Director General Tereso Panga, and CPIP President Carlos Po. The gesture formally signaled the opening of the new facility, marking its transition into operational readiness within a gathering that reflected both continuity and expansion across the site.   After the ceremony, guests were guided through a facility tour of the first and second buildings. The walkthrough provided a closer look at established production areas and ongoing operations, framing the third building within an already functioning system that continues to scale in parallel with demand and investment.   Keynote remarks followed, offering perspectives from both industry and institutional partners.   Marcus Klein expressed appreciation for the teams behind the development. “I’m extremely grateful to everyone contributing to this,” he said, acknowledging the collective effort that shaped the completion of the facility.   Carlos Po emphasized the driving force behind sustained progress within the park. “Determination powers all of us,” he said, adding, “All of us Filipino people have it in our hearts, have it in our eyes, we will succeed,” reflecting a shared resilience that extends across workforce and community.   Tereso Panga of PEZA highlighted the broader significance of the expansion. “PEZA is proud to stand alongside partners like Coherent whose long-term commitment, reinvestment and relentless pursuit of excellence embody the essence of nation-building investment,” reinforcing confidence in the Philippines as a stable destination for manufacturing growth.   Cesar Baracinas closed the program with a succinct reflection. “The growth we have is impossible but we can make it happen,” he said, underscoring the steady execution behind each phase of expansion.   The inauguration of the third building carries a different weight compared to the previous milestone. The second building, inaugurated in February 2025, stood as a statement of persistence, a signal that Coherent LEPI could sustain and reinforce its position through consistent expansion. The third building, by contrast, reflects confidence, an affirmation that the company is performing strongly within its own field and is ready to scale further from a position of stability rather than recovery or establishment.   The newly completed 1,500-square-meter Solaris facility is designed to support the company’s growing production requirements, particularly in semiconductor laser assemblies, fiber-coupled laser modules, and other advanced optoelectronic technologies. With processes built around high levels of precision and specialized manufacturing, the facility further strengthens Coherent LEPI’s role in the global photonics supply chain.

Global Innovation: SEMPHIL Expands with ₱50-Billion Investment

DJI_0118

The future of Philippine manufacturing and the country’s growing role in global innovation is taking shape here in Calamba. Inside Calamba Premiere International Park (CPIP), Samsung Electro-Mechanics Philippines Corp. (SEMPHIL) continues to define what it means to build globally competitive technology from local ground. Long before Samsung’s latest ₱50-billion expansion made news, SEMPHIL had already been proving that the Philippines can power the world’s most advanced industries.   From Calamba to the World Established in 1997, SEMPHIL became one of the first anchors of CPIP’s industrial community. Its mission was clear from the start: build high-precision components for the world’s leading technologies. Today, SEMPHIL’s facilities produce multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) and other critical electronic parts used in smartphones, vehicles, and household devices across continents. Each product embodies Korean technology and Filipino expertise — a partnership defined by precision, consistency, and trust. Expanding Horizons Samsung’s recently announced ₱50-billion investment was formalized during a high-level meeting in Busan, South Korea, on November 1, 2025, where SEMPHIL and Philippine officials, including President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., signed the agreement under the CREATE MORE Act (RA 12066). The investment is projected to create over 3,500 new jobs and expand the company’s manufacturing footprint in the country. For SEMPHIL, this expansion builds on a long-standing foundation — one that began inside CPIP nearly three decades ago. The upcoming facilities are expected to focus on advanced components such as multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) — critical technologies powering electric vehicles and next-generation smart devices. This expansion not only scales SEMPHIL’s production capacity but also positions the Philippines in higher-value segments of the global electronics supply chain. The company’s 2023 complex expansion inside CPIP already boosted capacity and opened new opportunities for engineers and skilled workers. The current investment builds on that momentum, deepening its presence and further integrating the Philippines into Samsung’s global supply chain. This growth reinforces CPIP’s role as a hub for sustainable industrial development, where locators choose to expand not out of convenience but out of confidence. Together, these milestones show how CPIP continues to attract investments that sustain long-term industrial growth. Confidence That Endures Speaking about Samsung’s role in the country, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said: “Samsung is already in the Philippines, they have employed [thousands of Filipinos] in their very, very high-tech manufacturing plant. The products that they make in the Philippines are of the highest tech that you can imagine. And so that is very, very important for us.” That statement rings true in Calamba. SEMPHIL’s record of steady growth shows how strong infrastructure, local capability, and dependable partnerships build lasting investor trust. The company’s ongoing expansion is both a business decision and a statement of confidence in the Filipino workforce. Driving Broader Growth Behind SEMPHIL’s world-class output are thousands of Filipino professionals — engineers, technicians, and innovators — who give the company its strength. Expansion here means real opportunity: stable jobs, evolving careers, and communities that grow alongside the industry. Samsung’s continued trust in the Philippines highlights a growing truth: the country is ready for the next phase of high-value manufacturing. SEMPHIL stands as a prime example of how global firms thrive when grounded in strong partnerships, sound infrastructure, and Filipino excellence. In Calamba, technology and talent work in sync. Inside CPIP, SEMPHIL continues to set the pace for growth built on trust and performance. Calamba Premiere International Park is proud to be home to global leaders like SEMPHIL — driving innovation, opportunity, and sustainable development in the heart of Laguna.

A Story of Integrity Inside CPIP

IMG_5999

Some stories do not need grand moments to leave a mark. Sometimes, it is the quiet decisions, the ones made when no one is looking, that speak the loudest. It was October 10, an ordinary day for the monthly water meter reading inside Calamba Premiere International Park. As one of the meter readers went about his rounds, a small accident happened when the bag carrying the device for the readings slipped from his grasp and fell somewhere along the road. Not long after, Mr. Aljor Marco, a driver from Cherich Shuttle Services for Samsung Electro-Mechanics Philippines Corp., happened to be around. A faint thud caught his attention. That was when he found the bag. Inside was a cellphone used for water meter readings. It was unlocked and had no password. Mr. Marco could have easily left it behind, but he understood how important the device must be to its owner. He even mentioned that it would surely be an unfortunate situation for the water meter reader, knowing how crucial the device was for their work. Guided by that thought, he checked the phone for any way to contact someone from CPIP. The only numbers he found were landlines, but as he looked through the gallery, he noticed something familiar—an employee wearing a CPIP uniform. That small clue was enough to lead him in the right direction. He reached out to the park and insisted on returning the phone himself. When asked why, he simply said it felt right, that since he was the last to hold it, he wanted to make sure it found its way back. Later that day, he met Mr. Krister Po, Head of CPIP’s Environmental Relations Department, and personally handed over the device. It was a small act, done quietly and without expectation. To express gratitude, CPIP offered humble tokens for Mr. Marco, a man who reminded everyone what integrity looks like in action. Because this is not just a story about honesty. It is about doing what is right even when no one is watching. It is about the kind of integrity that does not ask for recognition, the kind that exists simply because it matters. And perhaps, stories like this remind us of something we can all do: to choose kindness, even in the smallest ways; to act with integrity, not because we must, but because it’s the right thing to do. At CPIP, progress is not measured only by growth or innovation, but also by the values that bind its people together. Mr. Marco’s gesture may have been simple, but its impact reaches far, reminding us that integrity, in its purest form, is what truly builds a community worth belonging to.

Transitions That Matter: CPIP at NCE46

IMG_3369

Calamba Premiere International Park (CPIP) was honored to take part in the 46th National Conference of Employers—one of the country’s most prominent gatherings of business leaders and decision-makers. The two-day event, held on July 29–30 at the Fiesta Pavilion, The Manila Hotel, carried the theme “Leading Transitions for a Sustainable Future.”   Laying the Groundwork: Day 1 Highlights The conference opened with a message from Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) Governor and NCE Chairperson Mr. Cesar Mario Mamon, who introduced the core focus of this year’s discussions: the Triple Transition—green, digital, and social. These transitions, he emphasized, are not isolated trends but deeply connected shifts reshaping how businesses operate today. “These shifts are reshaping the way businesses operate, demanding innovative approaches to sustainability, technology, integration, and workforce development,” Mr. Mamon remarked in his opening call. Adding momentum to the message was the keynote address by Hon. Arsenio M. Balisacan, Secretary of the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development. His speech laid out a forward-looking vision aligned with ECOP’s commitment to sustainability and transformation.   Spotlight on the Green Transition The first major session focused on the Green Transition, viewing sustainability more than just a trend, but also a long-term commitment. ECOP Chairman Mr. Edgardo G. Lacson reminded participants that, “Sustainability is not a slogan. It is a discipline. It is not a 5-year plan, but a generational promise.” A panel composed of leaders from Arthaland Corporation, Manbrella Packaging Experts, Pandayan Bookshop, and Security Bank—moderated by Mr. Jonas Marie Dumdum of NRI Singapore—shared approaches to environmental responsibility. Topics ranged from shifting to renewable energy, circular economy models, and pollution reduction, to broader strategies for climate resilience. The panel also discussed potential policy reforms that can support sustainable business practices across sectors.   Navigating the Digital Landscape Next came the Digital Transition, with a conversation on how businesses can keep pace with rapid technological change. While digital tools bring undeniable benefits—efficiency, innovation, and connectivity—challenges like cybersecurity, data protection, and digital workforce readiness also demand attention. Moderated by ECOP Governor Perry Ferrer of Gruppo EMS, the panel featured Hon. Rosanna Urdaneta (TESDA), Ms. Michelle Alarcon (Analytics & AI Association of the Philippines), and Atty. Jay-R Ipac (DivinaLaw). The session zoomed in on the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it’s transforming the workplace. The key takeaway: businesses must take the lead in shaping how AI integrates into the workplace, not the other way around.   Centering People in the Transition Day 2 placed the spotlight on the Social Transition, emphasizing the need for people-centered change. The third panel focused on building inclusive and equitable workplaces—spaces where diversity is respected, labor rights protected, and workers are empowered through upskilling and lifelong learning. Moderated by Ms. Rhoda Caliwara of the Women’s Business Council Philippines, the panel included insights from Mr. Khalid Hassan (ILO Philippines), Ms. Olivia Limpe-Aw (Destileria Limtuaco & Co., Inc.), and Dr. Winston Conrad Padojinog (UA&P). Together, they explored the intersection of social inclusion, labor rights, and workforce resilience in today’s evolving business landscape.   Looking Ahead: Integration and Commitment To close the event, Hon. Bienvenido Laguesma, Secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment, delivered a keynote on how Human Resource (HR) and Industrial Relations (IR) strategies must evolve to navigate the Triple Transition effectively. His address brought the three transitions together into one integrated vision—underscoring that a sustainable future requires action across the three transitions. The conference concluded with the Kapatiran sa Industriya (KAPATID) awards and a special toast to celebrate ECOP’s 50th anniversary—marking five decades of leadership in labor and industry.   CPIP: Supporting Progress, Shaping the Future CPIP is honored to have been part of this important event. Represented by General Manager Carlos Po and key team members from Administration, Accounting, Environmental Relations, Marketing, and HR, our participation reflects CPIP’s ongoing commitment to sustainable and forward-thinking growth. As one of the country’s industrial parks, we recognize the responsibility that comes with our role. We’re focused on helping industries grow in ways that are cleaner, smarter, and more people-centered. The conversations at the conference were both inspiring and grounding. They remind us that we’re not just managing a space—we’re building an environment where businesses can innovate, communities can thrive, and progress can be shared.
